Resuming to in-person instruction during COVID-19era
Your health and safety are our top priorities, today and every day. Thank you for entrusting us with your education. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be feeling about coronavirus (also known as COVID-19). With your health and safety in mind, we are changing how we provide education services.
We hope you are staying healthy and social-distancing - the buzz words lately! We remain cognizant that you are eager to complete the course and receive your certification.
Survival and I are looking forward to seeing you! With this announcement comes some changes to ensure the safety of well being of students, instructors and residents during clinical. We are planning to do a phased approach in reopening our in-person training starting Monday, June 8th. We plan to start with face2face skills sessions of 3 - 4 students adjusting accordingly to the recommendations of public health and government officials.
Students in the March, April, May Blended/Online/Hybrid Classes will receive communication via email with a calendar schedule and registration form for you to register for the face2face Skills sessions. Also therein the email, will be guidelines of screenings that we plan to conduct when we meet in-person:-)
Please be patient with us as we transition back to a new-normal. We are hopeful that COVID-19 will be behind us very soon. It takes all of us, we thank you in advance. Again, please expect a follow-up email to register for the face2face sessions by the end of day - Tuesday, May 26th. Have a safe and healthy weekend honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. We also honor health care professionals who have rested in their service during COVID-19.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Preparedness : changes to teaching and updates on College operations
As is the case with people around the globe, the COVID-19 virus has forced us to change many aspects of our lives including the way we socialize, the way we communicate, and the way we do business. While the changes are challenging, they are also necessary, and so our college has made temporary changes to our operations, in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Gov. Walz aimed at reducing transmission of COVID-19 protecting our students, our staff and community. Read more about community mitigation measures here
On-campus class and off-campus instruction restrictions
Following guidance from CDC and MDH, all classes, all instructor-led have been transitioned to online to minimize the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Alternative course delivery primarily online started Monday, March 30.
Students should monitor their phone text messaging Applications (WhatsApp/Carrier SMS and email accounts) for class information.
Student scheduling information
The college remains open and operational with appropriate measures to protect the health of the community. All ZHI personnel will be working remotely during this period therefore are available by email or phone (text or call) in case you have any questions about the coronavirus and our preparedness. Instructors are now using an alternative means and to access lectures via online. ZHI is also planning how best to deliver assessments, exams and credits, should we need to change our usual processes for the Summer Term.
Please note that our business and community partners are also adapting in response to COVID-19. Off campus instruction are being rescheduled as directed by the CDC, MDH and business/ community partners.
Congregate facilities especially nursing homes have been the hardest hit by COVID-19 hence please anticipate delay in clinical schedules as the mitigation measures evolve. We remain dedicated to our teaching goal to ensure all students receive quality education amidst the emergency declarations and Executive Orders signed by Governor Walz.
Scheduling for Summer Classes?
If you already have a scheduled instructor-led class:
Your class will proceed as scheduled using the blended/online/hybrid option unless you receive an email cancellation. Read more
If your class is canceled:
You will receive an email cancellation if your class is cancelled due to COVID-19. We’ll provide next steps for rescheduling your class and exams.
If you are looking for information on how to schedule a class:
You may search our class schedule online. We are offering the blended/online/hybrid program instead of the instructor-led courses to cover the course content during COVID-19 pandemic. Face2Face skills and clinical sessions will be scheduled at a later date as advised by the CDC and MDH.
As you will appreciate, managing the spread of the coronavirus is a fast moving situation and the CDC and MDH may ask us to take further measures at short notice. Your patience is kindly requested.
