TMA001: Administering medication as a nursing assistant requires additional training. This challenging course will prepare you with the skills to administer medications under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. The course will cover legal and ethical issues related to medication administration, principles of medication administration, body systems and medications for each system, and medication administration of non-parenteral medications.
To maximize your success, it is strongly recommended you have current or prior work experience in a healthcare setting. The curriculum and standards of this course follow guidelines of the Minnesota Board of Nursing, Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) regulations and the Minnesota Department of Health.
Prerequisites: Nursing Assistant with long term care experience or Nursing Assistant with instructor approval. Competency in written and oral skills, successful completion of a Minnesota Department of Health (MDH)-approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant (NA) course.
Class Schedule: Oct - Dec 2026
Please read: Students are required to attend at minimum 48 hours to receive completion certificate. Class meets on Thursdays from 1700 - 2000 (5:00pm - 8:00pm) with a combination of independent study + scheduled return demonstration of medication pass. Face2Face class days are Thursday (Oct 30th, Nov 20th and Dec 18th)
